Synod Staffing Announcement

In gratefulness for his ministry, we are announcing that Rev. Herb Shao is concluding his time as one of our Directors for Evangelical Mission in the Northwest Washington Synod (updated) mid-April.

We give thanks for the many gifts Herb has shared with our staff, our synod, and throughout the church. His wisdom, enthusiasm, integrity, compassion, and courage have inspired us - and we give thanks to God for him. We hold him in prayer as he discerns his next faithful steps - and look forward to partnering in ministry in new ways.

Dear Siblings of the NWWA Synod,

I would like to let you know that after much prayerful discernment, I have decided to relinquish my position as the Director of Evangelical Mission on March 31, due to personal reasons. It has truly been my deepest honor to have discerned, journeyed, and grown with you these past three years. I am especially grateful for the incredibly dedicated and talented synod bishop and staff whom I now call my friends.

Although I leave this position, I will not leave the synod. While I don’t know what the next chapter will hold, I am reminded and comforted that God calls us not to certainty but faith and trust. Akiyo and I look forward to the reassuring wind of the Spirit as she blows us to new adventures.

I look forward to seeing you around as we continue to live as synod together. Should you desire to reach me after my departure, you can contact me at gotarev@aol.com.

Sincerely,

Herb Shao
